SUCCESS: Calling all Delphians
You wonderful Delphian supporters made our third annual Telethon the most successful student fundraiser in the school’s history. So far the score stands at $60,606 raised towards the Delphian Outdoor Program, otherwise known as “Into the Woods”!
What that buys us: “Into the Woods” promises to transform major parts of the campus by putting a beautiful new pond and woodlands area in place, along with a system of trails for hiking, biking and jogging—and other exciting things you’ll hear more about later. The program is designed to make it easy and fun to get students (and the rest of us) out into the natural environment.
Thanks to you, the total amount raised from the Telethon beat last year’s previous highest-ever by more than ten percent.
The major call-out on January 14 was centered in the Upper School on the fourth floor, where students at their call stations set up a buzz that could be felt all over the school and beyond. Livestream video captured the excitement of busy student callers. Student interviews and music performances punctuated the livestream event and did a great job of representing Delphian.
Our able Telethon organizers, students Pruette Karl, Sophia Lin and Crystal Peng, started planning out the event back in the fall. They organized the livestream, did space planning, recruited students and let our supporters know what was happening. As a result, funds were coming in even before Christmas and were still trickling in more than a week after the call-out.
As with most great victories, it was a team effort.
Our leaders were able to stand on mighty shoulders: Two years ago, Finn Dayton and Nigel Mincey broke the ground by organizing Telethon 2016, our first one ever, and last year Ashtyn Almstead, Lexie Delgado and Eva Drazkowski led Telethon 2017, which raised over $54,000 for a previous highest-ever student fundraising event. Each of the earlier events likewise helped transform the campus in wonderful ways.
The student bodies of all three years, with all the drive and enthusiasm Delphian students are capable of, worked with parents, alumni and other friends to make their telethon goals each year. Many thanks to YOU and to all concerned!
