Alumni enjoying one of the new trails (early stages) during the Alumni Weekend hike.
If you haven’t been to Delphian recently, you are in for a treat. As if all the newly remodelled areas in the building weren’t impressive enough in themselves, the emphasis in recent months has been on creating the facilities to get our students out into our beautiful 700-acre campus. Through their enthusiastic support of the “Into the Woods” campaign, Delphian supporters have already enabled the creation of an extensive trail system for the cross country team and the entire Delphian community, the revitalization of our pond in the woods and the road that gets you there, and the planting of a beautiful meadow for camping.
Delphian Alumni now deserve an additional round of applause for supporting the most recent Outdoor Program project: a large gazebo that will allow shelter and facilities for group camping by the pond. With a complete food prep and cooking area, and a fire pit for campfire singing and marshmallow roasting, the gazebo will be the focal point of the campground area. Student groups from Delphian and also those from other local organizations such as Boy Scouts of America will be encouraged to leave phones and computers indoors for a time in favor of getting out “Into the Woods.”
We held a first-of-its-kind wine and hors d’oeuvres fundraiser at Alumni Weekend for those who wanted to contribute to the Outdoor Program and this project. Alumni who couldn’t attend were also invited to participate online, and they responded enthusiastically. As a result, Delphian Alumni donated and pledged ALL the funding for the gazebo structure! In fact, they exceeded the $100,000 target and wound up pledging $137,000 overall. Twenty percent of all donations now go to the Founders Endowment Fund per school policy, and the remaining money will fund the gazebo’s counters, tables and bathrooms.
This represents the first-ever gift solely from Delphian alumni directly to Delphian students and future students, and the most successful alumni fundraiser ever.
A huge and well-deserved THANK YOU goes out to all who contributed. We hope all of you will come to Alumni Weekend 2019 to see the reality of what you’ve accomplished and to applaud our top alumni donors!

“For years after graduating, I wondered how best to give back to the beautiful group that gave me such a solid foundation in life. I could write letters to staff and alumni, attend the school's biggest celebrations, help with curriculum edits, or sponsor students in the annual Dance-A-Thon. Such activities felt good but weren't in proportion to all the help I received during my years at Delphian.
The only thing that helps me even up the deficit is to donate. Throughout the year, my wife and I challenge ourselves to ‘pay it forward’ with selfless contributions—the same as the Delphian staff do every day.”
